Starting Point: Crystal Lake to West Dundee and back with lunch at DC Cobbs
specifics: We met at 10:00 am at Main Street parking in Crystal Lake. This is the parking lot across from Mayfair Furniture.
We rode the bike path down to West Dundee and had lunch at DC Cobbs. It is approximately 10 miles to DC Cobb's.
After a relaxing lunch we went back to Crystal Lake.

Chicago Botanic Gardens Bike Trip

Starting Point Independence Grove Forest Preserve, 16400 W buckley Rd, Libertyille at 8:30 am
OR Metra Station Deerpath Lot, Deerpath and McKinley Streets, Lake Forest at 9:45 am
Cost $10.00 or $3.00 plus cost of lunch at the gardens.
We wil be meeting at Independence Grove Forest Preserve located at 16400 W Buckley Rd, (Rte. 137) in Libertyville on June 8th at 8:30am in Parking lot J or K There is a $10 Parking fee for non residents. The trip from there to the Botanic Garden and back is approximately 39 miles which wil take about 2.5 - 3 hours each way. We will also be eating lunch at the Garden Cafe and possibly taking a short stroll afterwards. For those who would rather do half that distance then we could meet up with you at 9:45 - 10:00 am in Lake Forest at the Deerpath Lot which is directly across from the Metra station at Deerpath and Mckinley Streets. This is a $3 daily parking fee. That should get us to our destination by 11:30 am leaving us 1 - 1.5 hours to spend there. Based on leaving by 1pm, that would get us back to Lake Forest by 2-2:30pm and back to Independence Grove by 4pm.

Chicago Botanic Gardens Bike Trip

When: Saturday, July 22nd 2017 . 10:00 am.
Where: Skokie Valley Bike Path to Chicago Botanic Gardens.
Cost: Admission is free to the gardens. $10-$15 for lunch.

MEET AT: Take Rte 176 east and turn right on Green Bay Rd (Rte.131) and go 1.5 miles and turn right on W. Laurel Ave and go .4 miles where parking is located. We will meet there at 10 AM.

THE TRAIL: You'll head south on the Skokie Valley Bike Path which is approximately 9 miles long, fully paved and runs through Lake Forest and Northbrook. It will take us within a couple blocks of the entrance to The Chicago Botanic Garden. There we can ride the bike path which winds around inside the Garden. We will stop for lunch at the Garden View Cafe which has a healthy and delicious menu priced at $10-15. The summer perennials should be in full bloom and we can walk around the various gardens if we choose. We will return the way we came and the total trip will be about 20 miles.
This is a repeat of the May 25th ride when we saw the spring flowers in bloom. This is a very educational trip.

2016 Fox River Trail Bike Trip

When: Saturday, June 11, 2016. It was a hot one, upper 80's.
Where: Fox River Trail from Crystal Lake to Elgin.

The Fox River Trail is a wonderful, scenic, paved trail that runs mostly along the Fox River, through the trees, and through downtown Algonquin, Carpentersville, East Dundee and Elgin.

For the full trip, (Meeting Place #1) total of 34 miles round trip, Depart Crystal Lake at bike trail parking area on Main St. @ 10:00 AM - arrive in downtown Elgin around 11:30 AM.

For a shorter trip, (Meeting Place #2), total of 24 miles round trip from this point. Meet the group in Algonquin in the Prairie Trail parking lot off Meyer Dr. located just off RTE.62 where the bike path crosses RTE. 62. at 10:30 AM - arrive downtown.

Shorter trip yet, (Meeting Place #3)- total of 16 miles round trip from this point. Meet up in Carpentersville - Main St. and bike trail by OTTO Engineering lot at 11:00 AM.
